Harnessing Oracy to Elevate Learning
Oracy is one of the most underrated literacy skills in classrooms. Not every learner feels comfortable articulating their thinking and reasoning or is confident to disagree with others respectfully. Research has shown that when teachers focus on growing and developing oracy skills, not only do learners improve their learning outcomes, but there are positive impacts on social outcomes.
In this interactive workshop, teachers will learn practical strategies to help ākonga develop oral language skills, thereby elevating learning in any classroom. You will be introduced to an evidence-based framework and link theory to practice. These practical oral language strategies will enhance the quality of group discussions and help ākonga develop the learning language specific to each subject area.
